 2016 Preview 


       Talladega County Central completed the 2015 season with a 6-4 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 1A region five, the Fighting Tigers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Talladega County Central's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Spring Garden by a score of 39-16.

       Since 2010, Talladega County Central has gone a combined 26-36. Their 42.0% winning percentage ranks 32nd in Class 1A over the past six seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Talladega County Central has managed to compile a record of 152-128. Their 54.0% winning percentage ranks 18th in Class 1A and 149th in the AHSAA.

       The Fighting Tigers are led by head coach Chris Mahand who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 45-16 over the past five seasons at Talladega County Central. Under his direction the Fighting Tigers have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times. They have won two region crowns with Coach Mahand.

       Coach Mahand's overall record as a head football coach in eleven season stands at 52-68 (43.3%). Over the course of his career, Coach Mahand's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of five times and won two region championships.

       The Talladega County Central Fighting Tigers will play in Class 1A region four during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Fighting Tigers remain in 1A but move from region five over to region four.

       The Fighting Tigers enter the 2016 season riding a 5 game regular season winning streak.

       The Fighting Tigers should be in contention for a playoff spot in region four this season. They will be looking to gain an advantage by hosting a first round postseason game.

       The Fighting Tigers open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Talladega on Friday, August 26 at Alumni Field. Last year the Talladega Tigers finished with an overall record of 2-7 and in sixth place in Class 5A region three. The Tigers closed out the regular season with a loss to Munford by a score of 35-0.

       Talladega County Central and Talladega have met a total of 10 times on the football field. The Fighting Tigers have a 2-8-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2015 with Talladega winning by a score of 21-7.
